Facebook Connect your wordpress blog!
I have been waiting for this for quite sometime now. Ever since I saw Valleywag and Gawker add this coming soon feature to their blogs, I knew it was only a matter of time when it would be available to everyone. So I installed the plugin and with a little guessing and checking I tweaked it to work. I had one of my friends test it so far but he didnt leave a comment yet so I am not to sure how well it works. I was able to install it and then leave a comment so it looks pretty good, but I always like getting some feedback from other people.
The main things I notice are:
- having the recent users in the sidebar (which looks nifty by the way
- the ability to post comments you make directly onto you wall (so cool!)
- users don’t have to sign up for your blog using wordpress, fbconnect adds them in a snap!
- once connected, users can edit their newly created wordpress profile further (creates WP user!)
Is facebook connect for your business?
I’m not sure yet. The problem is that Facebook really has all the member info in the end. Not that this would stop you from selling products or becoming popular/famous, but it may slow down the collection of emails which is usually a marketers bread and butter.
So only time will tell how well it ends up working in the professional world, but if you have a personal blog that you just write on for fun and reference (like this one)…why not?
Anyway, I invited some friends to come and connect their account to my blog through facebook connect, lets see how it works…or if they show! lol
