Regaining your Momentum

Go-getters like liquorCommonly referred to as “Reclaiming the fire”, it is a point we all reach as entrepreneurs where we feel a little stalled. Maybe something you have been working on for a while seems to be dragging on with pointless meetings, or maybe you just read how a potential client of yours just closed a deal with your pseudo competitor on techcrunch..

Whatever that reason may be, it can feel like your going nowhere and loosing ground. This is probably where most people get pressured to go back to (or start) work at a 9 to 5 job living in one of those awesome cubicles. My opinion is that this is the best time to relax and do a lot of thinking, when you don’t know what to do, sometimes the best thing is to just stay still and observe your surroundings. (more…)

No Power = Sad Geek

These past few days I have been without power. Wow is all I can say. It was actually quite enlightening to see how different things are without the use of electronics and internet. It was relaxing, yet boring as hell.

What would happen if we had to go without power for weeks or even months at a time? Do we even have enough power infrastructure to keep us going with the exploding use of electricity? (more…)

Jack of All Trades, Master of None?

Are You a Jack of all Trades? This statement used to make sense to me, but lately I feel it only applies to certain parts of life and business. The basic idea (if it wasn’t obvious) is that if you spend your time trying to learn everything, you will be moderately good at most of the things..but never a master of one of them. I have a different approach to this. My feeling is that if you have a reasonably high IQ and pretty good street smarts, you can be a master of three (3), not just one. Say master one thing, then expand to a new subject while concentrating on the other still, then eventually incorporating a third.

Stand out with a cool Twitter Template!

I made a custom twitter.com templateNow that I have started to keep track of my experiences (kind of like a life blogger, but not really), I realize the importance of having a nice integration with all your services online. In addition to incorporating the functionality of these 3rd party services, it is also important to style and theme these accounts (if they allow it).

With that said, I decided to customize my twitter account with a nice looking template. In addition to that, I made a few other twitter templates and decided to offer them to anyone who might find them here. (more…)

People don’t want to think anymore

Using your brain is becoming a lost art formYou would be surprised how many people in high up positions don’t have the vision to be innovative. It’s like everyone is so worried about loosing their job and making a mistake that no one wants to ever take a chance. Companies are all watching each other to see what the other is doing. One company in the space makes a move, then the others all follow like sheep.

This is why it has become so easy for small companies to forge ahead these days. It takes very little to move a herd of 4 people in a different direction as supposed to moving a 4000 person herd to a new concept. I understand how this works, but why? (more…)

All they need is your Dollar and a Dream

It never fails, I head on over to the local convenience store and there is a line of people waiting for lottery tickets. I used to think nothing of it, but lately I have become very anti lotto and really annoyed by the whole culture.

How can these people not get it? It’s so rare that you win, but at the same time they keep playing. Then they say “scratch-offs are different”, baloney! Yeah, Instead of it costing a Dollar, it’s more like 3-5 or even 10! Then when they win (on the last one) $5, theYeah right, save your money!y justify it and go buy more. (more…)
