Life is short, you have to enjoy every moment. Sure there are times we want to be sad and as long as its temporary it OK. Just don’t get all caught up in a slump! I like to say, “Life is like a roller coaster, sometimes you just have to hold on”. I like to make jokes, be sarcastic and act like a KID! Acting like a child may be one of the best ways to turn your mood around. It takes a certain degree of humility and letting go, but once you do it’s almost a guarantee that you will have a smile on your face. So go for it! Who says you have to be all grown up; and if there is someone telling you that you do, maybe you should think about that too!

So I have the G1 with Android. I know the new phone (my touch) came out but I decided to wait since they recently announced about 15-20 new android devices in the next year. Being with T-mobile and having 3 lines just for the sake of upgrades is nice as well, but somehow I managed to make all 3 lines expire in February. So much for the staggered upgrade strategy, I guess I’ll just have to stagger them after February, good thing it’s my birthday

But I digress…

I have a Google voice account and Google Inc. just released their version of the Google voice application in the market. It was immediately hit with bad comments due to its methodology, too bad that people don’t bother to read instructions. This is an awesome integration of Google voice directly into the OS. All you have to do is add the Google voice toggle icon onto your home screen. Then you can instantly switch between your actual phone number and the Google voice number, and unlike the other app in the market called “GV”, it uses all the same dialer and contacts to do stuff. When you make a phone call with Google’s app it actually shows a little Google voice icon on the bottom of the screen, very cool.

There are a few missing features in Google’s application, but nothing that can’t be fixed with a simple upgrade. The main thing is that you can’t select do not disturb through their app, but you can always use both!

Now all i need is the ability to add multiple numbers to google voice. It would be nice to have a number for the east coast, west coast and a international number say in London wouldnt be to shabby either.

News on the street is that there is a new toy coming to the cell phone market. Something is telling me that this phone is going to be huge! Retro and old school looks are always coming back and this is the type of phone that you want to be rocking if that’s your style. Detachable color plates give it many different styles and also open up the doorway to plug and play hardware modules.

This phone may even end up competing with devices like the ones offered by Bug Labs who already do modular hardware. Only time will tell…

See, there’s no way the branding agency could charge millions if they just went in and told Pepsi, “Yea, we kinda rotated your old logo a little bit, and made the wavy white line thingy in the middle go diagonal.” Instead, they prepared this 27-page document, titled “BREATHTAKING Design Strategy,” to prove that this logo is a veritable Da Vinci Code of branding, drawing on everything from magnetic fields to the “Golden Ratio.” Highlights:

I seem to like the G1 more and more each day. The whole fact that they give developers access to the OS is huge because it allows them to really integrate the applications on the device.
The IPhone allows application development too, but not the kind where you can tweak or even replace common phone functions.

Take the missed call app, a great piece of software that allows you to change the LED notification to a special color for missed calls and text messages (I have missed texts set to pink!). In addition to that, it gives you up to 4 SMS responses to use when missing a call and you can reprogram them! This app rocks!!

Then there is an app SMS screen alert prefs, it gives that cool popup that the iphone uses…hell there is even a full text message replacement (ChompSMS) with a better on screen keyboard than the iphone (it’s exactly the same but vibrates when hitting letters). Then the android platform lets you choose which program you want to use when getting a message and you can set a new default if you like the app better than the default SMS feature.

So what could the IPhone app store release that the developers for google’s G1’s app store could’t copy?

Multi-tasking

The multi-tasking operation of this phone is sick! It allows quick movement from app to app and SMS and whatever notifications you have set…and unlike the IPhone I can do all these tasks while on the phone as well. Weird how the IPhone won’t allow you to use apps while on a call, that kind of sucks with directions.

I can be in the middle of an email, jump to am IM or SMS and then back to the email all within a matter of seconds. That with a pearl mouse and a real keyboard, geeks are unstoppable.

** This post was written on my G1 powered by Google!
